Important: Undergang vinyl pressing

Ladies and gentlemen, please pay attention to this.

We have discovered that there is a problem with the pressing of the new Undergang LP. It’s not something huge by any means, and it’s more pronounced on some copies than others, but it’s not something that we’re very comfortable with so everything’s going back to the pressing plant.

Because we believe this pressing plant is unable to fix the problem, we’re switching to a different pressing plant whose current fastest turnaround is 8 weeks. The record is at the new pressing plant now and our order is being processed.

We are no longer sending pre-orders of this first press. If any of you already received a copy from us and don’t like the sound, please send an email to [email protected] with your order number. As soon as the new copies arrive, you’ll be the first to receive the replacement vinyl.

If you haven’t yet received your order, it’s likely that it has been put on hold until the replacements arrive.

I really apologise for this inconvenience and I hope that all of you understand the decision. We don’t want to have a record out there which we are not 100% satisfied with and doesn’t match the usual MSUO standards.

I’ll keep all of you updated with any further news regarding this situation, but I need to ask for your patience.

On a personal note, this Undergang album is one of our biggest releases of the year and it’s one of the most challenging situations I’ve been in since I started the label 11 years ago. Finding a solution during everything we’re going through now – Brexit, virus, lockdowns, Gmail blackouts and all the other 2020 bullshit – has been extremely difficult and stressful. Right now I can only offer my sincerest apologies to you all.

When will I get my replacement?

We’ll be able to start shipping out replacements from around 11th or 12th March. If you’ve since placed an order on the web store which hasn’t yet shipped, it will be shipped with that order.

Do I have to send the first press back to you / the place I ordered from if I don't like the sound?

If you’re not happy with the sound on this first press you’ll need to keep the insert and the sleeve. You will need to destroy the faulty vinyl and send photographic proof to [email protected] along with the original order number (if you haven’t done so already).

What should I be listening out for?

If you have a bad copy you might be able to hear a faint crackling sound in the background. It’s worse on some copies than others, there will be some copies that don’t have any problems with the sound.

Does this concern the colour editions, or is it only on the black?

We believe the problem is more accentuated on the colour versions.

What if I ordered my copy from Dark Descent / Vinyl Conflict / Extremely Rotten / elsewhere?

Please speak to the place you purchased it from. They are aware of the situation and will get the new replacement vinyl ASAP. Please keep hold of the sleeve and insert, and if you’re not happy with the sound in this first press we’d appreciate it if you’d destroy the vinyl.

Have you already sent my order?

You can check the status of your order on the Order Status page.

If it tells you it’s ‘Processing’ it means your order will be shipped when the replacement vinyl has arrived. If it says the order is ‘Completed’ it means it has already shipped.

For all orders that have already shipped: Please take a listen to the vinyl when it arrives and if you believe it sounds bad send us, or whomever you purchased the record from, an email with your order number and we’ll sort you out with the replacement vinyl. Please keep hold of the sleeve and insert from the first copy you received because we will only be replacing the vinyl.
