On these days when countless demo anthologies and compilations of early recordings are exhumed from the vaults, re released and hyped as essentials, does Filii Nigrantium Infernalium from Portugal deserve such honor? While loads of these releases are unworthy on the same proportion those forgotten bands were then are still unworthy even today, Filii and its primeval incarnation known as Bactherion are nothing but a total different chapter.

Overshadowed as happened with may other talented bands from the early nineties by the Norwegian turmoil, Portugal had a small Black Metal scene shaped on the trident of Moonspell, Decayed and Filii Nigrantium Infernalium. Filii, were the most irreverent, heinous and rawest on them all. Bactherion was a short living eyesore of cacophonous metal insanity that led by dreadful darwinism to Filii.

“Inmunditia Odii Plena”contains both (and only) demos released by both bands. The record opens with  “The Miracle of Death”, by Bactherion a prologue of what would end up being “Os Métodos Do Pentagrama” by FNI: 4 songs of the most unpleasant rampat roughness and disruptive evilness, crafted and evoked by a sect of musicians drinking from the sources of Necroschizma, Samael and Hellhammer, and their yet unreachable will of performing dark heavy metal anthems.

Moonspell and Decayed had goals for their music. Filii Nigrantium Infernalium was not an exception. But the destructive nihilistic passion of his unmistakeable soul and leader Belathauzer, was as irrational as his throat bleeding ripping performances, his irrepressible behavior and his unpredictable outbursts of anger.

That made the band went through periods of hiatus and creative fecundity over a career that has lasted for well over a quarter century. But the echoes of those first basic whipping blasphemies and affronts against The Most High, still resound on the catacombs. Now, finally unearthed for those who understand the pillars of Black Metal beyond the current political correctness that has killed any essence of what it once was.

The die hard edition of “Inmunditia Odii Plena” comes with an exclusive bonus cassette limited to 100 copies featuring the band’s first ever show recorded in Benavente, Portugal back in 1993. All copies come on gatefold cover, A2 poster and 20 pages booklet filled with liner notes and true underground filthiest Black Metal regalia from their demo days.
