This being said, while most material on Ectoplasmic Rape Phenomena is indeed quite to the point, the song ‘Sulphereal Morbid Corpse’ (the first written for the record) is a perfect epilogue. With its over six minutes running time, doomy and epic nature and guest solo part by GOREMENT’s Patrik Femlund, it proves with a bang that NECROGORE excels at being truly disgusting, no matter what the tempo is. And if this wasn’t enough, the final track on the album is an instrumental cover of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2 main theme: “There are very few horror movie soundtracks that have been rearranged in a death metal key, you can actually count them on one hand. But the few bands who have done it have always achieved great results. On a personal level, we have always wanted to pay tribute to the great horror soundtrack composers we’ve loved since we were kids. The TCM2 soundtrack was chosen because, beyond being genuinely beautiful, it naturally fit our style. The film itself, while not on the same level as the first one, is extremely well constructed, with outstanding characters, fantastic irony, and an overwhelming sense of violence and filth that will always make it the best sequel in the entire saga.

Signed to Awakening Records in 2022, the band’s second full-length album ‘Anthropomorphy Execution’ is slated for an end of March 2026 release. On its 10 vicious tracks—which took three years in the making—PAPA NECROSE unleashes a death metal attack with thrash metal undertones.

The duo axe attack from Danilo Vagner and Carlos Silva create engaging melodies within their methodically-picked riffs and elegant guitar solos, while a battering of furious rhythmic thrusts, compliments of bassist Éric Gusmão and drummer Luquian Silva, adds a blistering dynamic to the band’s sonic arsenal.

Most poignant case in point: the dank crypt of instrumental “…Inhumed…,” where flanged-out bass begins the plummet to unfathomable depths, establishing both atmosphere and physical presence of a most intimidating nature, and then carried to its conclusion in companion instrumental “…Exhumed…,” where the chasm to (and from) that crypt becomes a hypnotically haunting trudge. Who else is doing such exemplary work with death metal instrumentals?

Naturally, other similarly old-school influences can be spotted – Demilich, Autopsy, Incantation, Finland’s Abhorrence – but rest assured that FILTH inject their own personality (and just a slight bit of weirdness) into the bubbling cauldron to remain authentic rather than ripping off someone else’s past. Emerging from the ‘90s underground, both acts have remained devoted to death metal’s original gnarly spirit and uncompromising ethos – a conviction that defines this release! Having crossed paths repeatedly in the scene and on tour, including 2018 dates with Undergang and Corpsessed, the connection between the two camps runs deep.

“We recorded 11 songs for our third album Floating in Timeless Streams and felt that two of them worked especially well together, so we decided to reserve those for a split,” explains Tuomas K. of Lie in Ruins

It was Strychnos vocalist Martin Leth Andersen who set things in motion: “I like their back catalogue and know Tuomas very well from touring, so it was a no-brainer for me to reach out.”

Strychnos also contribute two tracks – recorded in 2023 during the Armageddon Patronage sessions. “The songs were left off the album not because they lacked quality, but because they didn’t quite fit the overall puzzle of the record,” Andersen explains. “‘Carnival of Tragedies’ and ‘Materiens Palads’ (Palace of Matter) explore a complete reversal of mankind’s dominance and the horrors of the material world, alongside a yearning to transcend into the otherworld.”

The Lie in Ruins side of the split was produced by trusted engineer Henri at Trollhouse Audio. Strychnos enlisted Lasse Ballade of Ballade Studios for recording and mixing duties, with mastering completed by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studios.

The split also marks CRAVEN IDOL’s 20th anniversary. Born in the choking smoke of London, the Finno-British underground veterans swear allegiance to the first wave of extreme metal, carrying the fire of Forked Tongues across European and North American stages.
