Emerging from the ‘90s underground, both acts have remained devoted to death metal’s original gnarly spirit and uncompromising ethos – a conviction that defines this release! Having crossed paths repeatedly in the scene and on tour, including 2018 dates with Undergang and Corpsessed, the connection between the two camps runs deep.

“We recorded 11 songs for our third album Floating in Timeless Streams and felt that two of them worked especially well together, so we decided to reserve those for a split,” explains Tuomas K. of Lie in Ruins

It was Strychnos vocalist Martin Leth Andersen who set things in motion: “I like their back catalogue and know Tuomas very well from touring, so it was a no-brainer for me to reach out.”

Strychnos also contribute two tracks – recorded in 2023 during the Armageddon Patronage sessions. “The songs were left off the album not because they lacked quality, but because they didn’t quite fit the overall puzzle of the record,” Andersen explains. “‘Carnival of Tragedies’ and ‘Materiens Palads’ (Palace of Matter) explore a complete reversal of mankind’s dominance and the horrors of the material world, alongside a yearning to transcend into the otherworld.”

The Lie in Ruins side of the split was produced by trusted engineer Henri at Trollhouse Audio. Strychnos enlisted Lasse Ballade of Ballade Studios for recording and mixing duties, with mastering completed by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studios.

The split also marks CRAVEN IDOL’s 20th anniversary. Born in the choking smoke of London, the Finno-British underground veterans swear allegiance to the first wave of extreme metal, carrying the fire of Forked Tongues across European and North American stages.

Once again recorded, mixed and mastered on familiar ground at Priory Recording Studios in Birmingham, England by Greg Chandler (ESOTERIC) and emblazoned with a much-expanded outer and inner gatefold piece by Zoetrope artist-extraordinaire Santiago Caruso (as well as additional insert art contributed by Nuno Zuki), The Womb of the World further defies the dogmas of death and black metal by dragging them deeper still into the depths of textural and timbral delirium, more so than its predecessors even dared fathom, augmented throughout its 4 chapters by the sinistrous siren song of The Orchestra of the Silent Stars.

The venomous tongues of guest-contributor slithering serendipity herself Jaded fucking Lungs (ADORIOR) maniacally guide And You Shall Know Perdition As Your Shrine into the album’s eponymous climax, a tumultuous ending in fire certain to be the apotheosis of QRIXKUOR’s vision to date.

A maelstrom if grinding riffs and blast-beats fires into life with psychotic vocals and brutal grooves. Instantly the captivating gore-soaked violence should have fans of grind losing their minds to the ferocious pulsations of guttural ichor. Terror Corpse, as their name suggests, offer you rotten anxiety and savagery with the hostility cranked to eleven.

From the devastating drum work and monstrous riffing to the wickedly contorting bass lines; each instrument complements the others in this storm of triumphant vitriol while the commanding vocals spew malice to superb effect.
